Follow-up vaccinations

Follow-up vaccinations with a waiting number are possible at all subsequent opening hours without making an appointment. You will receive your waiting number directly at the reception of the Bernhard-Nocht-Institute. Bring your vaccination certificate and recommended vaccination/appointment sheet to every visit.

Are you travelling at short notice to a country for which you urgently need a required yellow fever vaccination and cannot book a time-appropriate appointment online? Only in the case of a required yellow fever vaccination for your destination country, you can contact us for an appointment request Monday to Friday between 08:00-12:00 a.m. under: +49 40 285 380 219. Depending on availability, we can offer you a short-term consultation appointment.

Our travel and vaccination advice and vaccinations are individual health services (IGeL), which are charged according to the scale of fees for doctors (GÖÄ). We recommend that you ask your health insurance company in advance whether the costs for the services provided and vaccinations will be reimbursed. We kindly ask you to pay the invoice amount immediately on site by EC card/credit card or in cash.
The Institute's travel and vaccination consultations are offered by the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) at the Institute's location at Bernhard-Nocht-Str. 74 in Hamburg-St. Pauli. Head of the institute is the tropical medicine specialist Prof. Dr. Michael Ramharter.

Occupational health examinations

Special conditions apply to professional stays in China.

Please inform yourself well in advance and bring all the required documents with you so that there are no delays due to missing documents. Different requirements apply for children. The following list does not claim to be complete. It is always based on the current regulations of the Chinese authorities.

In order to issue a health certificate, we require a number of documents, medical findings and information on the scheduled date:

• planned travel dates and destination
• passport (original, for each person requiring a medical examination, including children)
• a copy of the passport (for each person)
• 2 biometric passport photos (for each person)
• Vaccination certificate (also childhood vaccination documents)
• eye test from an optician or ophthalmologist including visual acuity and colour vision
• list of medications you take regularly
• if applicable, serological blood results/specialist reports
• allergy passport, if applicable
• if applicable, previous findings from previous visa documents
• X-ray of the thorax
• for children: yellow screening booklet

Please plan enough time for this appointment, approx. 2-3 hours, as a detailed interview, ECG and blood samples will be necessary.
